About the fund

Jane Matthews (not her real name) is a retired teacher who came to Stoke-on-Trent in 1960 and never left. Since 2014 she has generously donated £3000 annually to support University of Staffordshire students studying the PGCE course from lower income households.

The PGCE Bursary comprises six awards of £500 each. The bursary aims to assist PGCE students with the growing costs of resources whilst training to become a teacher.
